He has a BSc (Chem. / Micro.), MSc (Bioscience), M Tech (Business Administration), SAMTRAC and many other recognised certificates. He has been employed and associated with the heavy duty manufacturing environment since 1987.

He has held various promotional positions including Process Engineer (QA Department), Chief Chemist (QA Department), Process / Production Manager and Health, Safety & Environmental Protection (HS&EP) Manager reporting to the GM /CEO. He has ensured successful implementation and assisted with the auditing to maintain ISO 9001:2008-Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2004-Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001:2007-Occupational Health and Safety Management System, the SHEQ Policy, Quality Assurance Procedures and HSE Procedures.

He has adopted a participative, ethical and transformational management and leadership style to inspire the best from his team and personnel to have a flexible and responsive organisation. He started his career in a manufacturing business as a Process Engineer and then promoted to a Chief Chemist. After he restructured the department he was promoted to a Process / Production Manger in a unionized environment. With his participative and transformational management leadership style; production, 5S and safety standards set a new record for the organization, redirecting the company safety culture from compliance to commitment and compliance. This resulted in a substantial reduction in near miss (hit), injury, absenteeism and an increase in productivity.
Years later his need was required and was promoted to manage the Health, Safety and Environment of the organization and became the member of the Business Team assisting with strategic decisions and supporting the Lean and Kaizen philosophy..

He has strong collaborative leadership skills, experience with budgets, ability to see external audits through to completion, and has participated with global offices (USA), with HIRA and IOD investigations with CAPA as his forte. He has immense experience in dealing with the Department of Labour and has performed numerous risk assessments.
His successful performance spread to the parent company in USA and was on the corporate team to carry out global audits and assist to amend the H & S policy and procedures and to build and coach successful cross-functional teams to exceed expectations.

In the health and safety fraternity he transformed the company from a safety culture to safety excellence and adopted the attitude that every obstacle or incident is a learning opportunity and a challenge to improve the system moving from lagging indicators to leading indicators( from reactive to proactive).

His professional service / career came to an abrupt end in 2014 when the USA based parent company decided to shut down its South African, Brazil and Russian operation.

In 2015 he was head hunted and approached to join a company to transform the health and safety challenges.
He has successfully implemented and transformed the safety perspectives and standards of the company, resulting in a dramatic decrease of work related injuries and incidents. However, this effort continues to face many challenges due to the lack of senior management support and governing politics.
